Paxful has reached agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice and FinCEN to resolve investigations into pre-2023 conduct under its former leadership. The company pleaded guilty, with sentencing scheduled for February 2026. Paxful's new ownership condemned the past actions, which it says violated current ethical standards.

The resolution underscores why Paxful recently announced its wind-down. Legacy compliance issues from the founders' era made operations unsustainable for the non-U.S. entity. This settlement closes a contentious chapter while reinforcing Paxful's commitment to transparency.
